Washington Post op-ed on female fashion cites research by Karin Martin, professor and chair of the LSA Department of Sociology, showing that the way preschool girls are dressed inhibits their ability to move freely.

Martin’s work sheds light on the uncomfortable fashion choices many women make as adults—choices that reflect a culture in which the sexual objectification of women is rampant. Martin, who is also an affiliate of the LSA Women's Studies program, studies gender, sexuality, and childhood in everyday life.
