Donald Kinder is the Philip E. Converse Distinguished University Professor of Political Science, a professor of political science and of psychology in LSA, and a research scientist in the Center for Political Studies at the Institute for Social Research. His fields of study include American government; political psychology; and race, ethnicity, and politics.

He is a past recipient of U-M's Henry Russel Award (the University's highest honor for early- and mid-career faculty), a former Guggenheim fellow, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

"Professor Kinder's election to the NAS is a testament to his long history of excellence in research in political science," says LSA Dean Andrew D. Martin. "His work has advanced not only his field of study, but also people's understanding of political dynamics in the world at large."
