LSA's 2021 Virtual Commencement Ceremony took place on Friday, April 30, 2021.

Senior critic-at-large for the Washington Post writing about politics, race, and the arts, as well as an LSA alumni who received her M.A. in journalism from U-M.

Student Speakers and Performers

Student Speaker Quantae Carr

Quantae Carr is a graduating senior majoring in Sociology from Detroit, MI. While in college, Quantae was able to be very involved on campus. He served the NAACP in many roles including Vice President and Health & Awareness Chair. He was also a 2019 Forbes Magazine Under 30 Scholar, a 2017 Bridge Scholar, and served on the first generation advisory board. He is very grateful for the plethora of opportunities provided to him at the University of Michigan. After graduation, Quantae will be working for M&T Bank in their Management Development Program.

Student MC Aidan Sova Introducing Robin Givhan and Performances

Aidan Sova is a graduating senior at the University of Michigan studying Communication and Media. He currently serves as Washtenaw County's newest Human Rights Commissioner, Member of the State of Michigan's Coronavirus Community Action Task Force, and Member of the Legal Services Corporation's Emerging Leaders Council. Recently, Aidan was also a recipient of the Martin Luther King Junior Spirit Award. After graduation, he will stay in Ann Arbor to work for Google.

Student Poetry Performance Dylan Gilbert

Dylan Gilbert is an LSA senior double majoring in Film and English with a sub-concentration in creative writing. She is the President of the University of Michigan Slam poetry Team, a recipient of multiple Hopwood awards, and was awarded ‘Best Poet’ at the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational.

Student Vocal Performance Rosanna Chalfant 

Rosanna Chalfant is an LSA senior majoring in Neuroscience on the premedical track. She was a member of the University's Women's Glee Club and traveled with them to sing during mass at the Vatican. She hopes to take her passion for singing wherever she goes in life.
