About Ruby

Ruby Flores Camacho serves as the inaugural Assistant Director for the LSA First-Generation Commitment. As a proud first-generation college graduate, Ruby is thrilled to bring her expertise in creating and managing belonging, diversity, and social justice initiatives to this role.

Before joining the LSA First-Generation Commitment, Ruby was a Program Manager in the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs. During her tenure, she created and managed various initiatives related to diversity and social justice. She also serves as an advisor to La Casa, supporting Latinx/e students and advancing advocacy and inclusion efforts.

Committed to leveraging her experiences to inspire and support other first-generation students, Ruby is guided by philosophies centered on advocacy, diversity, and social justice education, along with building authentic relationships. She eagerly anticipates connecting students with essential resources, mentors, and peers.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ruby enjoys watching college sports and movies, exploring museums and art exhibits, and spending time outdoors. She holds two degrees from Indiana University in Bloomington and hails from Indianapolis, where she was raised in a bilingual (Spanish and English) household.
