About
Jesse Carr is the Project Manager for the Transfer Bridges to the Humanities (TB2H) program. He joins LSA from Beloit College, where he was an Andrew Mellon postdoctoral fellow in the Office of Academic Diversity and Inclusion. His work at Beloit included lead roles with the Decolonizing Pedagogies Project and the Graduate School Exploration Fellowship. He brings a broad array of experience with faculty and staff development, student advising, and classroom- and community-based pedagogy to his new role.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Jesse received his BA from Oberlin College ('04) in Comparative American Studies and then worked in nonprofit operations in the San Francisco Bay Area. He completed his MA and PhD in American Culture at the University of Michigan ('15), supported by the Rackham Merit Fellowship, the Rackham Program in Public Scholarship, and University of Michigan Law School's Fellowship in Race, Law, and History.
Across his work inside and outside of academia, Jesse has always been animated by a passion for institutional transformation aligned with social justice values. He is thrilled to return to the University of Michigan to coordinate the Transfer Bridges to the Humanities@Michigan, a collaborative, cross-institutional effort funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that supports the partnership of University of Michigan (U-M) and Henry Ford College (HFC) to implement a series of initiatives that connect transfer students across campuses in an effort to enhance their experiences and increase graduation rates.
