Family Friendly Policies and Procedures

The policies described in the link above apply to tenure-track and tenured faculty members of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) who hold full-time appointments at the University.  LSA policies may be elected by LSA faculty rather than the related University policies, which may have narrower applicability.   

Dual Career Program

Services of the LSA Dual Career Program are offered to the partners of tenure-track or tenured faculty members.  Prospective faculty members who have been invited to campus for an interview are encouraged to contact the office of Dual Career Services.

LSA Promotion Philosophy – Entitled “Tenure Proceedings: Principles and Best Practices,” this policy outlines procedures that aim to maintain and improve upon the rigorous standards for tenure in LSA while at the same time ensuring fairness for candidates and reasonable consistency across the College in the procedures by which we arrive at tenure decisions.

ADVANCE Program – The ADVANCE Program focuses on four areas relevant to the success of a diverse and excellent faculty: recruitment, retention, climate, and leadership development. Together, these encompass not only multiple stages of faculty careers but also multiple mechanisms by which faculty diversity and excellence at U-M are enhanced.  

Center for Research on Learning and Teaching – CRLT is dedicated to the support and advancement of evidence-based learning and teaching practices and the professional development of all members of the campus teaching community. CRLT partners with faculty, graduate students, postdocs, and administrators to develop and sustain a University culture that values and rewards teaching, respects and supports individual differences among learners, and creates learning environments in which diverse students and instructors can excel.
