A student may elect a course on a Pass/Fail basis, in which case the registrar will enter a grade of P if a grade of "C-" through "A+" had been reported on the grade roster submitted by the instructor and a grade of F if a grade less than "C-" had been reported on the grade roster. 

Please note the following regarding Pass/Fail elections: 

  • Students have until the official last day of class as determined by the Registrar to modify a class pass/fail. Students may change back to the regular grading pattern, but only up until the third week deadline. After the third week, students cannot switch from a Pass/Fail election back to a graded pattern.
  • Non-graded courses earn credit toward a degree but not honor points. Therefore, "Pass" (or "Credit") grades do not enter into the computation of the term or cumulative grade point averages.
  • Courses used to fulfill a major or minor requirement must be taken for a grade and cannot be elected pass/fail. 
  • The final course used to fulfill the language requirement must be taken for a letter grade and cannot be elected Pass/Fail.
  • Students must have a minimum of 90 graded credits toward the 120 credits required for a degree.
  • Graded courses that have been transferred in from another school or college count toward the 90 graded credits. 
  • "P" courses from COVID grading terms WN20, FA20, WN21, SP21, SU21 also count toward the 90 graded credits.
  • Mini-courses have different start and end dates. The deadline to record a mini-course as Pass/Fail is the last day of class for that particular course, which may differ from the last day of classes for a full term course.
  • Courses with CR/NC and S/U grading patterns may not be elected Pass/Fail.
