PhD Student Kelly E. Wright gave a workshop at the 2017 Linguistic Institute entitled, “A Historical Sociolinguist’s Digital Tools ‘Starter Kit.’” In the workshop, she presented a variety of digital tools that could be utilized for historical sociolinguistic investigations. This workshop on digital tools was presented in connection with the launch of a new research network— North American Research Network in Historical Sociolinguistics (NARNiHS).

The University of Michigan has hosted the Linguistic Institute 21 times. It hosted or co-hosted in 1936-40, 1945-50, 1954-59,1965, 1967, 1973, and 2013.
