Emily Atkinson will join U-M Linguistics as Language Learning Assistant Professor for the next two years. Emily works on the processing of syntactic dependencies in adults and children.

This position is partly endowed by the journal Language Learning, and involves teaching two courses per year and continuing an innovative research program.

Atkinson earned her PhD in Cognitive Science from Johns Hopkins University. Her specific research interests include psycholinguistics, first language acquisition, and syntax.
