Linguistics Chair Acrisio Pires gives opening remarks.

Graduating Linguistics seniors and family members joined department faculty and staff at the Michigan Union on April 29th to celebrate the highlights and accomplishments of the Class of 2022.

Department Chair Acrisio Pires welcomed students and guests to the annual undergraduate reception—the first to be held in person since 2019. The event was live streamed for those attending virtually.

Opening remarks were followed by student speakers Grace Brown and Kim-Van Pham, who offered their perspectives and reflections on studying Linguistics as well as their time at U-M.

Professor Pam Beddor then announced that Grace Brown is the 2022 recipient of the Matt Alexander Award for a Linguistics Honors Thesis. Congratulations, Grace!

Following individual recognition of graduating seniors, the reception concluded with closing remarks and light refreshments.

We wish all of our graduating students continued success in all of their future endeavors!
