Department Journal Club Meeting

Friday, October 25, 2013
12:00 AM
403 Lorch Hall (Catford Room)

Dept. Journal Club meets to discuss the current conversation about broad interdisciplinarity between the sciences and the humanities.

The Dept. Journal Club meets this Friday, Oct. 25 in the Catford Room (403 Lorch Hall) from 4-5:30. As we did the last time, we'll have coffee and snacks available. If you'd like to contribute snacks as well, they are always most welcome! (We seem to have quite a few bakers and cooks in the Department at the moment.) If you don't want to bring snacks, that's o.k., too.

The Journal Club is informal and anyone who is interested is heartily welcome to come. The general format involves reading and discussing a paper that somehow exemplifies intradisciplinarity and that is accessible to a general Linguistics audience. No one officially presents the article and the discussion is only "led" in the most general sense of getting it started and keeping it going.  We hope to also spend time exploring research sparks that emerge from reading and discussing the paper.

At our last meeting, we decided to explore the recent version of the conversation concerning the relationship of the sciences and the humanities.
