LACS, AC, Latina/o Studies and History present "Religion in Greater Mexico: Ten Years of Researching Mexican Immigrants and Their Religious Life in the U.S.A.," a talk by Dr. Patricia Fortuny Loret de Mola (Centro de Investigación y Estudios en Antropología Social-Peninsular, Mérida, Yucatán, México). Over the last ten years, Dr. Fortuny has been involved in research on Mexican immigrants in Texas, California, Florida, and Georgia. Each research project had its specific objectives, although all looked at religion and migration variables. Her studies have explored the incorporation of religion into immigrants? lives, their interaction with religious institutions in both countries, popular religion, lived religion, and belief without belonging. The analysis was focused on observing and explaining the transnational processes impacting the churches under study. This talk is partially funded by a Title VI Grant from the Department of Education. For more information contact Daniel Ramirez (dramire@umich.edu).
