The Latino Studies Workshop will host a public lecture for Hispanic Heritage Month. The Keynote speaker, Lytle Hernández, will talk about her newly released book, City of Inmates: Conquest, Rebellion, and the Rise of Human Caging in Los Angeles, 1771–1965. Dr. Lytle Hernández's work unmasks how histories of native elimination, immigrant exclusion, and black disappearance drove the rise of incarceration in Los Angeles.
