The Kelsey Museum has launched a Teacher Advisory Group, designed to enhance archaeological education by fostering close collaboration with K–12 educators. This group will consist of 5–8 teachers who partner with the Kelsey staff to create, assess, and refine the museum’s educational programs and resources, ensuring that they align with the needs of instructors in addition to district, state, and national standards.
Open to educators from public, charter, and private schools, this initiative primarily seeks participants who teach 7th grade—the year in which the ancient world is taught in Michigan. Teachers will engage in a series of in-person and Zoom meetings throughout the school year, with the goal of brainstorming, refining, and recommending activities and materials to be utilized in classrooms and during museum visits.
Members of the advisory group will gain benefits such as complimentary field trips, invitations to special events, and free museum membership. Interested K–12 educators should contact the Kelsey Museum at [email protected]. For more information, visit the Teacher Advisory Group page here.
