Archaeology at Michigan, available at lsa.umich.edu/archaeology, showcases the University of Michigan’s dynamic and far-reaching teaching and research activities in the field of archaeology. Originally developed in 2014, the Archaeology at Michigan website was recently comprehensively redesigned and relaunched to better reflect the current state of the discipline, its associated programs and fieldwork, and other archaeology-related resources at U-M.

An initiative of the U-M Museum of Anthropological Archaeology (UMMAA), the Archaeology at Michigan revamp was spearheaded by an advisory group consisting of faculty and staff at UMMAA, at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology (KMA), and in various U-M departments, with web designer Julia Falkovitch-Khain as the website coordinator. The updated platform features the latest information on archaeology faculty and staff, undergraduate and graduate course offerings in archaeology and related disciplines, current fieldwork projects associated with KMA and UMMAA, and the labs and collections at both museums. Serving as a central hub, the website consolidates and integrates resources, news stories, and events that might have otherwise remained fragmented across several U-M websites.

By making this information accessible in one place, Archaeology at Michigan will help students, faculty, external colleagues, and the wider public engage with and learn about the vibrant archaeology program at Michigan.
