From Seleucia to Delos by Way of Uruk and Kedesh: A Panel Discussion on Hellenistic Archives

Join us for a special public panel discussion on Hellenistic Archives. This panel discussion will present the results of a week long academic workshop on the iconography of ancient archives and archival practices in the Hellenistic world.  Panelists include:

Marie-Francoise Boussac, faculty member in History at CRNS-Université Lyon 2 and publisher of the Delos Archive

Vito Messina, Assistant Professor of Iranian Archaeology at the University of Turin and publisher of the Seleucia archive

Donald Ariel, Chief Numismatist of the Israel Antiquities Authority and publisher of the portraited and inscribed sealings from Kedesh

Sharon Herbert, J. G. Pedley Collegiate Professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Michigan and publisher all but the portraited and inscribed sealings from Kedesh

Andrea Berlin, James R. Wiseman Professor of Classical Archaeology at Boston University, co-Director of the Kedesh excavations and Director of the LCP

Raoul Alwani, Principal and Lead Developer  Lachman Technologies, web developer for the LCP

Ronald Wallenfels, Adjunct Associate Professor of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University, publisher of numerous cuneiform archival materials from several sites in Hellenistic Mesopotamia

Arthur Verhoogt, Professor of Papyrology at the University of Michigan, specialist on Hellenistic and Roman archival practices in Egypt

Brendan Haug (discussant), Assistant Professor of Greek and Papyrology at the University of Michigan

Ian Moyer (discussant), Associate Professor of Ancient History at the University of Michigan

Reception and display to follow.
