Please join us for the second FAST lecture of 2016“Water in Late Antique Ephesus” / “Object-based Learning with the Kelsey Experience and TLTC”

Jordan Pickett (UMich Post-Doc / UPenn PhD ’15) will present a fast-paced, double-header lecture for the FAST series. The first 20 minutes will introduce Jordan’s recent fieldwork and research on the water infrastructure of Roman and Late Antique Ephesus. This work includes the first-ever study of water pipes and conduits at Ephesus, which describes six centuries of change in the supply, distribution, and consumption of water in one of the most important cities of the Roman world. The second twenty minutes of this FAST lecture provides an overview of the exciting work of the TLTC project here at UMichigan, which is teaching undergraduates – from STEM fields, business, and the humanities alike – to think and ask questions like historians and archaeologists through first-hand experiences and investigations of ancient artifacts at the Kelsey Museum.
