Saturday Sampler Tour | Glass Arts

Saturday, June 30, 2018
2:00-3:00 PM
Kelsey Museum of Archaeology Map
Crystal clear, blue, purple, yellow, or multicolored - glass was a precious and beautiful commodity in the ancient world. On this tour, learn more about the Kelsey Museum's extensive ancient glass collection. Artifacts such as glass decanters and glasses, lamps, bracelets, beads, perfume bottles, weights, and decorative panels show the many ways artisans of the past used this material. A number of the glass artifacts were excavated by University of Michigan archaeologists which gives us an insight into how these beautiful artifacts were used in the past.

Saturday Sampler tours are free and open to all visitors. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend this tour, please contact the education office (734-647-4167) at least two weeks in advance. We ask for advance notice as some accommodations may require more time for the University to arrange.
