Throughout this fall and winter, the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is mounting a special exhibition featuring over 200 pieces from the Middle East, Egypt, Central and South Asia, and beyond. Spanning from ancient to modern times, The Art of Dining: Food Culture in the Islamic World invites visitors to consider the links between art and cuisine through a wide range of works exploring the preparation, serving, and enjoyment of food. Join guest speaker Katherine E. Kasdorf, associate curator for Asian and Islamic arts at the DIA, as she delves into the rich culinary culture of the Islamic world. (Visit https://dia.org/events/exhibitions/art-dining to learn more about the exhibit.)

Kelsey Museum Flash Talks are 15-minute Zoom lectures by Kelsey curators, staff members, researchers, graduate students, and guests talking about their recent research or current projects. Each presentation is followed by 15 minutes of Q&A. Flash Talks are free and open to all visitors. They take place at noon on the first Friday of every month.
