Let our trained docents, staff, or faculty guide you through the ancient world on a tour of the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology’s permanent galleries or the rotating special exhibitions.
Public tours are free and open to anyone with no registration required. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend a tour, please contact the education office (734.647.4167) at least two weeks in advance of your visit. We ask for advance notice as some accommodations may require more time for the University to arrange.
Saturday Sampler Tours
Saturday Sampler Tours are offered almost every Saturday year-round. These thematic tours focus in on one topic at a time — anything from ancient medicine to glass arts to University of Michigan excavations.
Docent-led Drop-In Tours are offered on some Sunday afternoons. These tours are a great introduction to the Kelsey Museum collections, and will introduce you to many of our most notable artifacts.
Join us for curator-led tours of our special exhibitions! We offer at least one curator tour for each special exhibition plus additional programming such as lectures, symposia, and receptions. Curator tours offer a unique opportunity to learn more about the exhibitions from the experts who conceived of them.
