Kelsey Book Club

The Kelsey Book Club is designed to inspire conversation and community among individuals who share a passion for reading, mythology, and archaeology. This monthly group is open to all adults with an interest in Greek mythology and the ancient world. Whether you are a Kelsey docent, a museum member, a U-M student or staff member, or a member of the community, we welcome you to join us for lively discussions and shared explorations.

Each session will be led and moderated by knowledgeable experts, including faculty members and graduate students from various departments at the University of Michigan.

Meeting Details:

  • When: Thursdays, 6:00–7:00 PM during the academic year (September through April).
  • Where: Classrooms at Newberry Hall, Kelsey Museum.
  • Extras: Light refreshments will be served.

Participation Details:

We offer tiered pricing to accommodate all participants. All proceeds will support future community programming:

  • $60 per session (nonmembers): includes the book, refreshments, and speaker cost.
  • $40 per session (members): includes the book, refreshments, and speaker cost.
  • $20 per session: bring your own book, and join us for conversation and community. This fee helps cover refreshments and the speaker cost.

Advance registration is required to ensure that you receive a copy of the book (if selected). After registering, you will receive further instructions on payment (credit card accepted) and how to pick up your book. Please see the chart below for specific dates, the roster of upcoming books, and registration info.
