K-12 Educators and Schools

Guided Tours

A field trip to the Kelsey includes a tour of the permanent exhibit and a hands-on activity.
Tours are designed around a theme or an ancient civilization. For details, or to schedule a tour, please visit the K-12 Tours page.

Self-Guided Visits to the Museum

Interested in bringing your class to the museum to explore on your own? You are certainly welcome to do so. The museum is free, and is open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please contact the Education Department to reserve a time for your visit. We frequently have scheduled tours in the museum, and we want to make sure there is room for everyone to see the artifacts and move safely through the galleries.

Please review our suggestions for parking and the rules of the museum prior to your visit.

School Outreach

Can’t schedule a visit to the Kelsey? We are happy to travel to your school to present hands-on activities related to the ancient world:

  • Fred the Mummy
  • Burial Boxes
  • Pottery Reconstruction
  • Ancient Board Games
  • Athenian Democracy

We are able to provide presentations Tuesday through Friday. Presentations must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Outreach is free of charge. To set up a visit to your classroom, please contact the Education Department.
