Congratulations to Jason De León, U-M associate professor of anthropology, on winning a 2017 MacArthur Fellowship. 

The Institute for the Humanities worked with De León on the exhibitition State of Exception, which was featured in the New York Times Magazine in 2013, won the Latina Spirit Award at ArtPrize 2015, and was installed at Parson’s New School, NYC in 2016.

The MacArthur Fellowship awards unrestricted fellowships to talented individuals who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction.
