Now accepting applications from graduate students for grants to attend the Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) in Victoria, BC, Canada. The deadline for applications is October 6, 2017 at 5 pm.

The Institute for the Humanities will provide funding for up to four humanities graduate students to attend the DHSI from 4–8 June or 11–15 June 2018 at the University of Victoria, Canada. Participants may choose to attend one or two weeks of the Institute. Each week will include  skills training workshops as well as a selection of colloquia, “unconferences,” panels, and institute lectures.

The list of this year’s courses, as well as other information about the program, can be found at dhsi.org. This year’s course offerings include topics such as race, social justice and the digital humanities, archives for digital humanists, fundamentals of programming and coding, critical pedagogy and digital praxis, queer and feminist digital humanities, digital storytelling, open access and open scholarship, among others.

Grants will cover the registration fee for a week and provide $500 in reimbursement towards travel. These grants ask for matching support from the applicant’s home department. We anticipate awarding four grants for summer 2018. Grant awards will be based on the plan of study, including the statement of interest and rationale for participation.

Please note: DHSI is also offering a number of individual scholarships for the Summer Institute. These scholarships are open to all, and cover course costs with the exception of a small, non-refundable administration fee (students $150, non-students $300). For more information about this opportunity, please visit their website.
