Lunch with Honors: Pearl and the Beard Performance w/ Q&A

Thursday, September 5, 2013
4:00 AM
1330 Mason|Honors Lounge

Pearl and The Beard is three voices, one cello, one guitar, one glockenspiel, one melodica, several drums, ninety-six teeth, and one soul. Former strangers Jocelyn Mackenzie Altieri, Emily Hope Price and Jeremy Styles were united in the great city of New York; each had the same true love. Since then, the three have nested, and their unique brand of brightly melodic song craft continues to blossom of its own accord.  In the past year they have headlined shows across the country and opened for Ingrid Michaelson, Ani DiFranco, and Devotchka.

They will be headlining The Ark’s annual Free Show for Michigan Students on Thursday September 5th, 2013, but will be making an Exclusive Stop at Lunch with Honors to play a private performance for Honors students.

Press Shout-Outs:

“Sweetness indeed! Sweet, indie, folk pop! We love it!”
Perez Hilton

“A joy to listen to… Pearl and the Beard make something you never thought to ask for, but find that you no longer want to live without.”
Paste Magazine

“They transcend genre. It’s indie folk music, but it’s also infused with blues hollers, the occasional jazz riff, and a deep passion for the material.”
The Boston Globe

“…As Pearl and the Beard joyfully belted their song “Reverend,” with its rolling beat and lilting harmonies, to a growing crowd on the [subway] platform… commuters missed their trains to stay and listen, unsure what was happening—only that it was a New York moment not to be missed.”
The Wall Street Journal
