There are three graduation periods every year - April, August, and December - but only two campus-wide commencement ceremonies: Spring Commencement (at the conclusion of the Winter term), and Fall Commencement (in December). August (Summer) graduates are eligible to participate in either the Spring or the December ceremony.
NOTE: U-M is assessing plans for our Spring Commencement and Rackham Graduate Exercises ceremonies. At this time, plans for these ceremonies are unchanged. We are continuing to monitor the impact of the COVID-19 virus and will provide updates when more information is available.
U-M Spring 2020 Commencement: May 2
Honors 2020 Graduation Ceremony: April 30, Thursday, 11a-12:30p
Honors celebrates students graduating with Honors or with acknowledgement for receiving the Sophomore Honors Award with this special event at Crisler Center. All graduates and candidates of the Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer Terms are eligible to participate. All friends and family are welcome. Apply to be a Student Speaker here (deadline last Tuesday of March).
Invitations. Email invitations will be sent to students, who will be able to forward ceremony information to guests, early in the winter term. There is no ticketing or limit to the number of guests allowed per student.
Jumbotron Senior Slide Show. Students are encouraged to share undergrad memories of photos for the Jumbotron Senior Slide Show. No limit. Honors reserves the right to determine inclusion. Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Accessibility. Crisler is handicap accessible. Limited parking is available onsite for guests with restricted mobility. A state-issued disability placard/license plate must be displayed. Handicapped Reserved spaces will be available by the northeast entrance of Crisler Center. Once inside the building, staff are on hand to direct guests to the elevators and appropriate seating.
Parking & Transportation. Parking is available on site. (Note: Central Campus parking becomes full quite early in the day. For those who wish to easily navigate multiple ceremonies, we suggest U-M's Blue Bus system, which is free to visitors. There are also several cab and on-demand transportations companies (such as Uber & Lyft), which can be searched via the internet.)
There is an AATA Park & Ride Lot at Pioneer High School, 601 W. Stadium Blvd. The lot is on the southwest corner of Stadium Blvd & Main St, the first entrance south of Stadium Blvd. It is within walking distance to Crisler Center.
All Central and South campus orange, yellow, and blue permit lots will be open to the general public for the Honors Ceremony, beginning at 9:00a. There are several orange and yellow lots near Crisler Center: SC4, SC5, SC6, SC7, SC35, and SC36. (Please visit pts.umich.edu/maps/central_south.pdf for a detailed map of the area.)
Michigan blue busses, including the Commuter South, will be in operation that day and may be a viable option for traveling to and from Crisler Center for some graduates and families.
See more information on the campus-wide ceremony.
Honors 2020 Open House: May 1, Friday, 10a-1p
The LSA Honors Program Senior Open House, in 1330 Mason Hall, allows students to say goodbye to their Academic Advisors and to pick up graduation regalia, if they were unable to attend the ceremony at Crisler. A continental breakfast is available throughout the morning.
