If you register for classes and later change your plans, you can disenroll by contacting the Registrar’s Office. You must do this before the first day of classes to avoid being charged any tuition or fees. If you are unsure when classes start, you can check the academic calendar.
Early Request for LSA Term Withdrawal (Weeks One Through Three in a Full Term / Second Week in a Half Term)
Mid-Term Request for LSA Term Withdrawal (Weeks Four Through Six in a Full Term / Third week in a Half Term)
Students can initiate via the LSA MyAdvising website; instructors are contacted and must submit the student's last date of participation. Any tuition adjustments will be reviewed by the Registrar's Office.
Late Request for LSA Term Withdrawal (After Week Six in a Full Term / Third Week in a Half Term)
Students must contact a member of the Honors Academic Board (HAB), which includes the director, associate director, assistant director, or any Honors advisor. A member of the HAB must initiate your request; instructors will be contacted and must submit the student's last date of participation. Students who withdraw after the ninth week of a term will be required to obtain permission from the Honors Academic Board before continuing in the College.
Retroactive Withdrawals (After the term is over.)
After the last day of classes, you cannot withdraw except by successful petition to the Honors Academic Board. Retroactive withdrawals are rare exceptions and are only granted in extraordinary circumstances. To be eligible to petition, you must have documentation of non-academic factors that prevented you from finishing classes and prevented you from requesting the withdrawal before the end of the term. If you think you might have a case, please contact your academic advisor or message email@example.com for initial guidance. You must meet with an Honors Academic Board member before you can submit a petition. Please note that there is a one-year time limit on these requests.
