Maya Sudarkasa

Maya Sudarkasa is a PhD Graduate Student in the Department of History at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She studies 19th century United States history; namely Reconstruction and Post Emancipation. Her primary research questions consider issues of race, freedom, citizenship, and capital in the post Civil War period. Her secondary research questions (or interests) probe modern Western (Euro/American) epistemology, imperialism, capitalism, and mythologies of racial supremacy and exceptionalism.
