On April 29, 2016, the Department of History held its annual PhD Commencement Ceremony. Fourteen students from the class of 2015-16 were on hand to celebrate their doctorates in History, Anthropology and History, and the Interdepartmental Program in Greek and Roman History. Professor Kathleen Canning, Department Chair, offered welcome remarks, and Professor John Carson announced the 2016 Arthur Fondiler Dissertation Prize, which was awarded to Elizabeth Kamali for her work, "A Felonious State of Mind: Mens Rea in Thirteenth- and Fourteenth-Century England."
