Congratulations to Cyrus O'Brien, winner of the prestigious ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award for 2018!

O'Brien graduated in 2018 with a PhD from the joint Doctoral Program in Anthropology and History. His dissertation is "Redeeming Imprisonment: Religion and the Development of Mass Incarceration in Florida."

The ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards recognize highly accomplished graduate students who have produced exceptional dissertations of outstanding scholarly quality in any field of study.

O'Brien currently a postdoctoral fellow at the John C. Danforth Center on Religion & Politics at Washington University in St. Louis.
