Congratulations to Christopher Ratte on his recent promotion.

Christopher Ratté is a Classical archaeologist, specializing in Greek and Roman architecture and urbanism, and in the archaeology of Asia Minor. He came to the University of Michigan in 2006, after teaching for thirteen years in the Department of Classical Studies and the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. While at NYU, he served as co-director of the Aphrodisias Excavations in western Turkey. From 2005 to 2009, he was director of the Aphrodisias Regional Survey, and in 2009, he launched a new archaeological research project in the region of Vani in the Republic of Georgia (jointly sponsored by the University of Michigan and the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at NYU).
