Global Engagement Symposium Welcoming Remarks

Remarks by Dr. Benjamin Peters, Director of the Global Scholars Program, acknowledging our global partner organizations, the hard work of GSP students during the 2019-2020 academic year, and the support of the instructional team for first-year GSP students.

SKSN

Collaborative Group 1’s Global Engagement Internship was in partnership with Sucheta Kriplani Shiksha Niketan(SKSN), which is an NGO that has provided education for low-income, physically disabled children in Rajasthan, India since 1991.

CG 2 - AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL DETROIT

This semester our CG worked with Amnesty International as our Global Engagement Internship for the semester. Amnesty International is a nonprofit organization based in the United Kingdom that focuses on global human rights.

CRHF

Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation (CRHF)
was founded in 1997 by Gail Nystrom.  The goal of CRHF is to improve the lives of Costa Rican’s through programs to provide food,healthcare, health education, education, job training and work.

Inkululeko is a non-profit organization founded in 2011 whose mission is to create change by providing South African township youth with the tools necessary to make the most of life after primary school.

This poster highlights our experience throughout our time as interns for Peace Boat US. In this poster we have 5 different sections: What is Peace Boat?,  CG5 and Peace Boat, Social Media, UNODA Report, Takeaways.

WE HELP WAR VICTIMS

We Help War Victims is an organization that works to aid the Hmong community of Lao after violent, often imperial, wars have left landmines, pollution, and other consequences in their country.

 

 

CG 7 - APNE AAP WOMEN'S COLLECTIVE

Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) is an anti-trafficking organization that provides tools and resources for brothel-based sex workers and marginalized children in Mumbai’s largest red light area, Kamathipura.

Our Global Engagement Internship was with the High Atlas Foundation (HAF), a non-profit that supports Morrocan communities to implement various sustainable human development initiatives.
