Thesis - “Being Yourself Together” Reframing Camp through the Lens of Memetic Communication
Primary Advisor, Caryl Flinn; Secondary Advisor, Sarah Murray
This thesis reframes the traditional understanding of camp, not merely to be understood as simply a list of objects, or a specific aesthetic, but rather as a postmodern memetic language system. This language system functions in a way similar to internet memes and memetic communication, building on a pre-existing social library of cultural objects like films, quotes, images, practices, and now internet memes.
