Doctoral Candidate
About
Kayti Lausch is a doctoral candidate in Film, Television, and Media. Her research examines the intersections between Christianity, American culture, and the television industry. Her dissertation, "Building a Climate of Righteousness: Religious Television Networks in American Culture,” explores the role that religious television networks have played in shaping American political and cultural discourse by nurturing a new demographic of television viewers who were encouraged to define themselves as counter to the mainstream because of their religious and moral values. She has been the sole instructor for two courses, “Television Theory and Criticism” and “American Television Networks.” She received her B.A. from Cornell University in American Studies in 2009, and her M.A. in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013.
