FTVM 236 Art of Film Fourth Biannual Audiovisual Essay Festival

For the third year in a row, students in FTVM 236 (co-taught by Caryl Flinn and Matthew Solomon) were asked to create a three to five minute audiovisual essay for their final project. Each student’s video made an original argument about one of the films or television episodes screened for the course. The eight best of these works, as chosen by the GSI Team, competed in The Audiovisual Essay Festival at the end of the term. The audience determined the following winners:

Pls Hire US: A 403 Sketch Comedy LIVE Performance

All Three Performances are FREE and Open to the Public 

On December 12th and 13th, 2018, Terri Sarris’ SAC 403 Sketch Comedy class presented “Pls Hire Us,” an original 70-minute sketch comedy show, directed and recorded in front of an audience in the live multi-camera style of “Saturday Night Live.”  The 19 students in the course collaborated on all aspects of the show: writing, producing, directing, editing, and acting in both live and digital short comedy sketches. The live shows, directed by Austen Thomas, were performed before three full capacity audiences in Studio A of North Quad. 

Thanks to FTVM studio staff Rob Hoffman, Rob Gingerich-Jones, and Paul Sutherland, to the entire 403 class, and to the student volunteers who helped to make the show such a success.

Lightworks Festival

The Lightworks Festival is a showcase of Film, Television, and Media student films. Presented by FTVM's student organization FVSA (Film and Video Student Association), the Lightworks Festival provides a venue for students to present their end-of-term production coursework to classmates, family, and friends.
