Swapnil Rai was invited to participate in The Global Fandom Conversation Initiative by Henry Jenkins where she contributed her expertise on Bollywood fandoms in Germany and Russia. In her anaylsis, Rai noted the feminization of Bollywood as a film culture from the Global South in western contexts and the ways in which affective fan labor engages with industry networks to facilitate the global dissemination of Bollywood.
