LaTara McLemore

LaTara is a doctoral candidate in the English Language and Literature program. Her areas of focus are 19th and 20th century African American literature, read through and alongside literary history, Diasporic Theory, Black Feminist Theory, Afropessimism, and temporal studies. LaTara's work centers upon the formal organizing structures of the novel, including characterization, narration, and alternative experiences of time. Outside of academia, she is most proud of 1) being a Chicago native, and 2) being an enthusiastic consumer (and sometimes baker) of chocolate chip cookies.
