About
Greetings! I go by my first name, Pamela, and use she/her pronouns. Since 2000, I have been at the English Language Institute exploring English communication and English language teaching with graduate and undergraduate students, through courses, workshops, and individual consultations. I seek to support each of my students in expanding their plurilingual repertoire of communication skills to navigate their academic and community lives as they aspire to.
My curricular development projects have focused on interrogating and dismantling linguistic discrimination in English language teaching, on collaborative community-building in online learning, on increasing learner access and agency through technology, and on innovative pedagogies that support personalized learning.
Prior to teaching at ELI, I taught French in the U-M Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, served as the Executive Director of the county’s adult literacy council, and while auditing a predoctoral graduate program in Martinique, French West Indies, I taught English to adults and children from pre-K through high school. I serve on the Board of Directors of MITESOL as a co-editor of the MITESOL Journal.
