On February 18, P. Gabrielle Foreman (University of Delaware) continued the Institute's "Senses & Longings" theme with the lecture, "Northern Slavery, the Art of Dissection, and a Doctor’s Fortune."

On March 10, Curie Virág (University of Toronto) presented "Landscape and Longing: On the Perils of Gazing from a Height in Traditional China." Professor Virág's talk is available online as an MP3 audio recording for University of Michigan affiliates (link here to access; due to technical difficulties, the recording cuts off in the middle of the question-and-answer session; the lecture is complete.).
