The Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies will offer fellowship opportunities for University of Michigan Department of History faculty, graduate students, and recent Ph.D.'s. for the 2014-15 academic year.

New for this year: Deadlines and notification vary according to fellowship type. Categories include:

  • Faculty Fellowships: Release from teaching one Department of History course along with a $2,500 research grant; up to four fellows. Applications due January 8, 2014; awards announced in February/March 2014. Link for details.
  • Graduate Student Research Fellowships: $5,000 taxable research grant; up to six fellows. Applications due March 3, 2014; awards announced in March or April 2014. Link for details.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowship: $41,000 salary, full benefits, and $2,000 research fund; includes two-course teaching obligation; one fellow. Application details announced in March/April 2014; award announced in April/May 2014.

The Institute does not currently offer external fellowships.

All fellows are expected to actively participate in Institute programs and events. The Institute's fellowship programs have been made possible by a generous contribution from Kenneth and Frances After Eisenberg.
