Michael Ricks is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Economics at the University of Michigan and a Research Assistant at the Youth Policy Lab. His research focuses on answering policy-relevant questions in public economics by applying frontier methods from applied econometrics and industrial organization. Most of his current research focuses on government subsidies and on education policy substantively and much of it explores the intersection of reduced form and structural approaches methodologically. He received his BS in economics from Brigham Young University in 2017 and is the father of three fantastic children.
