U-M Economics Alumnus Eric Chyn (PhD '16) received the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Global Working Group’s first-ever doctoral dissertation prize. For his dissertation, “Moved to Opportunity: The Long-Run Effect of Pulbic Housing Demolition on Labor Market Outcomes for Children,’ he will receive $1,000 and will be flown to the University of Chicago later this year to present his work to the Center for the Economics of Human Development, HCEO directors, and University of Chicago faculty.


Eric Chyn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Virginia (UVA) and a Faculty Research Fellow at the Rhode Island Innovative Policy Lab (RIIPL) at Brown University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan in 2016, and a B.B.A. in Economics from Baylor University in 2006.
