Timothy Hurd is the President and Chief Investment Officer of BlueSpruce Investments, LP (“BlueSpruce”). BlueSpruce is a Chicago-based investment firm that oversees approximately $4.5 billion in investments and employs a private equity approach to public market investi—specifically, a deep fundamental research approach to construct a concentrated portfolio that it generally holds for the long term.  Prior to founding BlueSpruce, Mr. Hurd had been with Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC (“MDP”) for 17 years, joining the firm in 1996 as a Vice President and becoming a Managing Director in 2000.  At MDP, Tim led the firm’s investments in companies including PayPal, Inc., TransUnion Corp., CapitalSource, Inc., and Nuveen Investments where he served as a Director of each company.

Mr. Hurd graduated from Harvard Business School in 1996, and he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics, with highest distinction, from the University of Michigan in 1992, where he was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  Following his graduation from the University of Michigan, Mr. Hurd joined Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York in the Mergers Department.  In addition, Tim serves as a Trustee of the Latin School of Chicago and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation as well as a Director of the Horton Trust Company and UDQ Private Trust Company.
