Pronunciation: JEF-fer-son JAR-say
Jefferson graduated from the National University of Colombia with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Geology and worked as a consultant for mining and engineering companies before moving to the United States to pursue a PhD in geophysics. During his doctoral studies, he studied the relationship between seismicity, slow slip events, and tsunamis in the North Island of New Zealand. Jefferson joined CSP and the Earth and Environmental Sciences department in the Fall of 2020. He teaches introductory courses that cover the Earth’s interior and surface processes, natural resources, natural hazards, and the effects of climate change.
