September 15 through October 15 is celebrated as National Hispanic Heritage Month. This month serves as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the Hispanic and Latinx communities.
Thus, we at Michigan Earth wanted to take the time to not only recognize this month, but to also celebrate some great accomplishments of Hispanic and Latinx scientists that have come before us.
Though these are just a few of many, see the slideshow below for some of the most influential scientists in the earth and environmental sciences, all from Hispanic and Latinx backgrounds.
