Dr. Jonathan Overpeck, Michigan Earth Affiliated Professor and Dean of the School for Environment and Sustainability, recently spoke to the Anchorage Daily News on the rising temperatures and how it affects residents living in desert climates such as Phoenix and Las Vegas.

“You’ve got to question the viability of living in the lowest parts of the Southwest like Phoenix,” said Dr. Overpeck.

He once lived in Tucson but moved away, largely due to concerns over climate change’s effects on the area's economy.
