July 1, 2023 - Congratulations to Dr. Julia Cole, as she officially becomes the 17th department chair in LSA Earth and Environmental Sciences history. Dr. Cole has served as a professor and climate change scientist with Michigan Earth since 2017. On top of that, Dr. Cole also leads a research lab that focuses on climate and environmental change in systems with large societal impact.
Dr. Cole replaces Dr. Marin Clark, who served her term as Department Chair from 2018-2023. Dr. Clark took the mantle in 2018 and lead the department through the entirety of the Covid-19 pandemic. As for Dr. Clark, she will continue on with her position as a professor at Michigan Earth after going on sabatcle year during the 2023-24 academic year.
