On April 29, 2022, the department hosted our Comeback Commencement reception. This casual gathering at the North University Building had no strict agenda and was a welcome complement to the university’s formal ceremony at the Big House. It was an opportunity for the Classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 to celebrate their achievements with friends and families.
Over food and drinks, attendees enjoyed the first “normal” Michigan EARTH graduation since 2019. The graduates introduced guests to the people and places accompanying their academic journey over the last several years. Friends and family took in some of the fieldwork experiences quintessential to being an EARTH student via the Camp Davis videos on the NUB monitors. By utilizing much of the second floor of NUB, the department ensured there was plenty of space for all, and attendees were welcome to spread out from the conference room into classrooms.
We are looking forward to more of these safe and joyous occasions.
