Recently, Michigan Earth Professor Jie (Jackie) Li spoke to Chemistry World, a monthly chemistry news magazine based out of the U.K., on a recent finding at the Earth's core.
"The Earth’s inner core behaves anisotropically, meaning it exhibits different properties in different directions," said dr. Li. "As a result, seismic waves travel through the inner core at different speeds in the polar and equatorial directions."
The article, written by Victoria Atkinson, goes on to explain the impact of the material properties of the Earth’s interior have on life.
