About 30 students enjoyed cool and sunny weather on the Spring 2017 Earth Structure fieldtrip to the Maryland Appalachians.  Focusing on outcrop scale observations, such as the Martinsburg shale railroad cut, with sketching and measuring (using the Clino smartphone app instead of compasses), and discussing regional context at overviews.  The group picture is at the Wills Mountains Narrows overview of a large Valley-and Ridge ramp anticline, just before spring/summer vegetation takes over.
